Abstract

The European project, launched within the European Commission’s DEAR Programme, aims to develop young EU citizens’ awareness of the complex relation between climate change and migration flows in their countries and abroad. For this reason, four main areas of intervention have been identified: research, awareness, Pan-European campaign and advocacy. The University of Bologna contributes to the project with interdisciplinary research, through the involvement of four departments: Political and Social Science (DSPS); Agricultural and Food Sciences (DISTAL); Sociology and Business Law (SDE); History and Cultures (DISCI). The university aims to engage people in an informed movement in which they are ready not only to change their habits to adopt a sustainable and conscious lifestyle, but also to demand development policies to tackle global warming. Thus, they acknowledge that this phenomenon, in all its complexity, is a driver of migration and forced displacement.
