Social Representations of Violence Against Women: The Case of Feminicide in Italy

PRIN 2015

Scientific Coordinator: Pina Lalli

National Coordination. The project examines the social representations of extreme violence against women (feminicide) in the various spaces of public discourse in Italy and aims to review the symbolic resources that are employed in the current Italian public discourse around feminicide.

To this regard, it investigates the different ways in which feminicide is legitimized/justified in several institutional arenas. The research hypothesis is that there are numerous forms of social representation and justification.
