Didactic Commission

Responsibilities

A didactic commission is set up in each department offering one or more degree programmes (not including schools).

The commission performs preliminary examination functions and develops strategies on behalf of the department's governing bodies for several institutional matters. More specifically:

  • on behalf of the head, it supervises the allocation of teaching roles among professors and researchers, in accordance with the university guidelines on the teaching programme, and monitors the performance of such duties (article 6.2.c); additionally, it assists the head in drawing up proposals regarding the three-year teaching programme, the creation, activation, deactivation and modification of degree programmes, the participation in schools and the signing of agreements pursuant to article 19 bis of the University Statute.

Furthermore, the commission offers its support in numerous areas, such as:

  • the distribution of teaching resources;
  • the coordination between degree programmes and multi-campus structures pertaining to the department;
  • the publication of calls for proposals and the admission tests;
  • the preparation of the Single Annual Report (SUA);
  • the participation in the Quality Assurance system;
  • the organization of the teaching calendar and of the other deadlines related to teaching activities;
  • the support to the activity of the Department Joint Committee;
  • the training of professors;
  • the promotion of best practices and innovative teaching methods;
  • the participation to projects for higher qualifications and to projects of excellence;
  • the handling of relations with the university’s administrative services.

Finally, in cooperation with other commissions and working groups, the commission monitors the need for human resources, fosters internationalization focusing on double and joint degrees and sector agreements, and monitors logistics and orientation.

Composition

The composition of the Commission is established by a specific resolution of 17.05.2024 by the Council of the Department of Political and Social Sciences.
