The DSPS has established scientific leadership in the political and social sciences at both national and international levels.
A research community — that of our Department — committed to consolidating its position of excellence through the promotion of quality and innovation in research, with a constant focus on internationalisation and social impact.
Our Department is a dynamic and open academic environment that values methodological and disciplinary pluralism, aiming to train new generations of scholars equipped with advanced analytical tools, strong professional skills, rigorous methods, and a multidisciplinary perspective.
Thanks to its designation and funding as a Department of Excellence 2023–2027, DSPS is strengthening its resources to explore innovative research topics on a transnational scale.
The research objectives identified in the Department Strategic Plan are supported by progressive, task-based planning and are monitored annually.
Among the four main research areas are:
-
transformations in international politics;
-
challenges to representative democracy;
-
inequalities and innovations in welfare;
-
the effects of new technologies on politics and society.
