Research Proposals by SPS Personnel

Research Proposals by SPS Personnel

SPS colleagues intending to submit a research project proposal in response to competitive calls or funding schemes—whether European/international, national, university-based, regional, or local—must follow the procedures and timelines described below.

This procedure has been established in order to prepare the necessary draft resolution and to ensure the Department Council can assess the project’s sustainability before authorising or not the designation of SPS as the main or secondary host institution.

Before submitting a proposal, applicants are advised to carefully review and be fully aware of the contents of the call and all related annexes, including FAQs, guidelines, and any other accompanying documents.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

If a research project is approved for funding, but incompatibilities emerge between the proposed activities and the applicable legal, regulatory, or institutional provisions of the funding body and/or the University, such activities cannot be carried out.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL

The submission process consists of two phases:

  1. Preliminary expression of interest to submit a research project proposal
  2. Submission of the research project proposal

1. Preliminary Expression of Interest to Submit a Research Project Proposal

To facilitate the organisation of departmental activities, as soon as a potential participation in a call is identified, the person interested in submitting a research project proposal must communicate their intention by email to sps.ricerca@unibo.it, copying sps.direttore@unibo.it and the Delegato/a alla Ricerca.
It is essential to send this expression of interest to all the indicated recipients simultaneously to ensure proper information flow.

In this communication—which serves solely as an expression of interest—it is sufficient to specify:

  • whether you intend to participate as Principal Investigator (PI) or as a partner;

  • the link to the call webpage;

  • the deadline of the call.

2. Submission of the Research Project Proposal: Recipients and Deadlines

The submission of the research project proposal is formalised through the full and accurate completion of the Research Project Proposal Form (available at the end of this webpage).

The completed form must be sent by email to sps.ricerca@unibo.it, copying sps.direttore@unibo.it and the Delegato/a alla Ricerca.
If the proposal includes public engagement and/or internationalisation activities, please also include the respective delegates in copy.
If the project has an impact on teaching (e.g. ERASMUS+, Jean Monnet), the Delegato/a alla Didattica must also be informed.

The Research Project Proposal Form must be submitted at least 20 days before the Giunta meeting scheduled for the month of the call deadline.

The proposal form and the Giunta calendar are available in the DOCUMENTATION section of this webpage.

If the call deadline is not compatible with the dates of the Giunta meetings (for example, if the call closes just a few days before the scheduled meeting), the applicant must promptly notify the same email addresses indicated above in order to agree on a possible alternative timeline.
