The research project "Social Representations of Cyberviolence Against Women and Girls: Advancing Knowledge on an Under-Conceptualized Issue" aims to analyze the social representations of digital technology-facilitated violence against women and girls (Cyber-VAWG) in Italy. It explores how this phenomenon is legitimized or explained both within various institutional contexts and among young adults and adolescents.
The main objectives of the project are:
- Analyze the representations of Cyber-VAWG circulating among adolescents and young adults to understand how they perceive the phenomenon and what strategies they adopt to address it.
- Explore the representation of Cyber-VAWG in Italian media, both in news coverage and fictional content.
- Examine how Cyber-VAWG is portrayed in public policies, prevention programs, and awareness campaigns, also from a comparative European perspective.
- Generate knowledge to support new research initiatives, guide public policies, and promote greater awareness of the issue.
