EUREKA

Erasmus + 2023 - ERASMUS-JMO-2023-OFET-TT— Jean Monnet Teacher Training – Commissione europea - 1/9/2023-31/8/2026

Principal Investigator: Giuliana Laschi

The EUREKA project will be led by Punto Europa Forlì as part of its long-standing commitment to working with schools—a mission it has successfully carried out for over 20 years. The core objective of these initiatives has always been to raise awareness among students and teachers about European citizenship, and EUREKA fits perfectly within this framework.

One of the key reasons behind the perceived gap between the EU and the education system is the lack of proper training for teachers. This project aims to bridge that gap by empowering school educators and equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to integrate European topics more effectively into their teaching.

EUREKA will unfold over a three-year period, offering a variety of activities, including general courses on the EU, specialised training programs, and study trips. Students will have the opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills in school, supported by master’s degree students who will act as mentors. Additionally, the project will produce tangible outcomes, such as a book written by the teachers themselves, serving as a model to replicate EUREKA’s innovative methodology in other European countries.

A cornerstone of the project is the online cooperative platform, a key tool for building a dynamic and engaged community. This digital space will allow teachers to exchange ideas, share best practices, and discuss different perspectives, fostering a collaborative and stimulating environment. Ultimately, this platform will play a crucial role in enhancing teachers’ long-term awareness and understanding of European citizenship.

At its core, EUREKA is designed to consolidate an innovative approach to learning about the EU and combating misinformation. It is built on informal education, learning-by-doing, interaction, and constructive dialogue. The project will establish an "Academy on the European Union"—a space where Europe is not just studied but actively experienced through a thriving network of educators. By developing new methodological tools, teachers will be better equipped to engage their students with European topics, ultimately contributing to the broader goal of shaping active young European citizens and strengthening the future of European democracy.
