We are happy to communicate to you the second meeting of the Quantitative Social Science Seminars (QSSS) this semester. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 7, 1 - 3 pm. We’ll have PhD Dario Mazzilli (Centro Ricerche Enrico Fermi) giving a talk entitled „Causality and Forecasting. From Physics to Social Sciences“. He offers a brief exploration of the enduring debate between causality and forecasting and poses the question: are they truly so distinct? In the social sciences, the answer is far from simple, as it often depends on the unique characteristics of each system. However, the approach to using both effectively and scientifically remains fundamentally the same. QSSS provides a distinguished platform for scholars to convene, exchange insights, and explore the latest advancements in research, with the aim of cultivating a dynamic academic community in Bologna. We extend a warm invitation to join us for an engaging scholarly dialogue!
