The conference aims to deepen and encourage debate on the challenges that Turkey faces domestically, regionally, and in relations with the European Union. In recent years, the country is experiencing an increasing polarization of society and authoritarianism. In addition, although Turkey is still formally an accession candidate country, the EU anchor seems to be no longer able to support the consolidation of democracy, and the EU is turning Turkey into a strategic partner for the management of the migration crisis. What are the implications of the regional context and of relations with the EU on the country’s domestic and foreign policy?
